Easy Paper Banner Tutorial
Hello, my little Musketeers!
Look around the house. Do you see an empty wall that you would want to decorate? Well, then let's not waste any more time. I want you to scamper around and get all of the things mentioned below.
We are going to give that wall a Paper Bunting.
Did you know?
Paper Buntings first originated in the 17th century and got their name from the lightweight wool material they were made from called buntine. They were initially used as flags on ships.
Here is a step-by-step tutorial for easy paper banners that only require supplies found at home easily.
What you'll need:
Rectangular Coloured Paper
A big imagination!
Gather all your supplies and arrange them so you can work neatly and cleanly.
Fold a rectangular coloured paper in half and then draw a triangle on both sides.
It should look like the diamond shape shown in STEP 2 when you open up the folded paper.
Cut along the diamond shape (dotted line in STEP 2). This will be the triangles on our banner.
STEP 3 STEP 4
After cutting out the triangles, your paper should look like STEP 3.
Now, take the cutouts and open the folds and place them in a line.
Take your string and place it in the folds as shown in STEP 4.
Spread glue on half of the folded diamond shape and then fold both sides as shown in STEP 5.
Make sure the string is secure in the fold before sticking the two sides.
Repeat the same process with all the diamond-shaped cutouts.
You now have your triangular banner with a string (STEP 6).
TIME TO DECORATE!
Now grab some different coloured paper and fold it in half 2 times.
Draw semi-circles on the folded edges of the paper as shown in STEP 8.
Very carefully with the help of an adult, cut out the semi-circles on the folded edge.
This will create full circles when you unfold the paper.
You can create a number of shapes through this folding method.
Stick your polka dot decorations on and customize your banners any way you like!
Use paints, glitter, markers, crayons. beads or anything else. GET CREATIVE!
